Commercial/Franchising/Intellectual Property Lawyer

The firm is ideally looking for a motivated lawyer with experience in commercial practice, with emphasis in intellectual property/trade practices/franchising. The successful applicant should also possess the following:

Essential qualities and experience:

  • Highly motivated
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients
  • Able to effectively adapt to changes in the legal environment and clients needs
  • Must be open to new ideas and different ways of providing legal services and practising the law
  • Able to work under pressure and handle complex problems
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively to deliver a high quality of service within time frames required to meet client needs
  • Good time management skills

Qualifications and experience:

  • Studied Intellectual Property/Trade Practices as an Under Graduate or as part of a Masters/Diploma Program and also have a Business/Commerce degree
  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property, Trade Practices and Franchising Law and its application in the commercial environment.
  • Strong research and drafting skills
  • Ability to negotiate, preview and draft commercial agreements and provide advice.

  • Partnerships and Joint Ventures
  • Licence or Franchise Agreements
  • Confidentiality/Non-disclosure Agreements
  • Marketing and Distribution Agreements

An excellent commencement salary is offered commensurate with experience to be reviewed after 6 months. There will also be partnership prospects for the right person.
