Paul joined Stephens Lawyers & Consultants in August 2008 as a patent law consultant.

Paul is a graduate of the University of Melbourne in Applied Sciences, specialising in Chemistry. He is a registered Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in both Australia and New Zealand, and was appointed as a Fellow of the Institution of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys.

Prior to his registration as a patent attorney, Paul was an examiner at the Australian Patent Office for over ten years and headed the chemical hearings team. From these positions, Paul has gained extensive knowledge of the operation of the Patent Office including examination and opposition procedures.

With over twelve years of private practice experience with Australian Patent Attorney firms, Paul has also worked as the patent attorney and deputy manager for the commercial arm of the CSIRO (Sirotech Ltd), where he was involved in managing CSIRO intellectual property.

Paul practices predominately in the area of organic and polymer chemistry and biotechnology, advising on patentability and exploitation, freedom to operate, prosecution and opposition proceedings.
