Media, Entertainment and Arts Lawyer and Consultant
Rochina joined Stephens Lawyers and Consultants in August, 2013 and provides consultancy services on Media, Entertainment and the Arts. Rochina also advises and consults on commercial and intellectual property matters including copyright protection and licensing; visual arts and design; film funding applications; film production and distribution; film option agreements; music recording, publishing and distribution agreements; media; and business structuring for film production, publishers, musicians, bands and artists.
Rochina has over 20 years of legal experience in Sydney and Melbourne, including 4 years as the Senior Legal Officer at the Arts Law Centre of Australia (Sydney) and as the Legal Manager at Film Victoria (Melbourne). She has also held positions as a solicitor and lawyer in corporate and private law firm environments specialising in commercial and copyright law with particular emphasis on the music, film and visual arts industries.
She has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University and a Master of Laws (specialising in Media, Communications and Intellectual Property Law) from the University of New South Wales. She is a qualified mediator and has participated on the board of a number of not-for-profit organisations including Open Channel (Melbourne), ArtSpace Contemporary Art Space (Sydney) and the Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society (Sydney), and has also been an artistic advisor on the Kingston City Council Public Art Advisory Panel.
Since 2004 Rochina has pursued her passion for the arts by working within the visual arts sector and completed a Graduate Certificate in Art History at the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration at RMIT.
